How to Add New Email Addresses to Your Website's Domain

Adding more email addresses to your domain might sound simple, but it often involves a few technical steps. This guide walks you through the process. 

I already have a working email for my domain. How do I add new email addresses?

Great! The first step is to identify who is providing your current email service. This will determine where you go to add new email accounts.

How do I find my email service provider?

  1. Log into your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy).

  2. Check your DNS settings, specifically the MX (Mail Exchange) records.

  3. Look for clues like:

    • aspmx.l.google.com = Google Workspace

    • outlook.com or office365.com = Microsoft Outlook/Office365

These records tell you who is managing your domain's email.

My MX records show Google. What now?

That means you're using Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) for email. Here's how to add a new email address:

  1. Go to admin.google.com.

  2. Log in using your admin username and password.

  3. Once inside, go to Users.

  4. Click "Add a user" and fill out:

    • First name

    • Last name

    • Desired email address

    • Select the correct domain (if you have more than one)

Once submitted, the new email account will be created.

I can’t see my domain name inside Google Admin. Why not?

You might be logged in with the wrong admin account. Try logging out and logging back in using the username that manages your domain’s Google Workspace account. If you’re unsure which one that is, it may require some investigation or support.

What if my email is managed by Outlook instead?

Follow the same general steps, but through Microsoft:

  1. Go to outlook.com or your Microsoft 365 admin portal.

  2. Log in with your admin credentials.

  3. Navigate to Users > Active Users.

  4. Click "Add a user" to create a new email address for your domain.

What if I don’t see any MX records at all?

This may mean your email hasn't been set up yet, or it's being routed somewhere unusual. You'll need to:

  • Confirm your email hosting provider

  • Or contact your domain registrar’s support team for help.
