How to Track Your Google Business Profile Performance

Understanding GBP Performance Data

You can view your Google Business Profile (GBP) insights by logging into your profile and clicking the Performance tab. Here’s what the data means:

  • Calls
Shows how many times people tapped the Call button directly from your profile
  • Direction Requests
Tracks how often users tapped to get directions to your listed address.
  • Website Clicks
Tells you how many times someone clicked the link to your website from your GBP.
  • Search Impressions
Shows how often your profile appeared in Google search, along with a breakdown of the general types of search terms that triggered it.

Important: This data is only for your Google Business Profile; it’s completely separate from your website traffic.

Limitations of GBP Insights

  • Tracks clicks and taps, not actual leads or conversions
  • No info on whether someone who called actually became a customer
  • Can’t filter or customize timeframes beyond Google’s presets
  • Doesn’t show bounce rates, time on page, or any deeper session data
  • You only see broad keyword categories, not the exact terms people searched

GBP data can help you learn how your local marketing efforts are working, but it's just one part of a bigger picture. Your website traffic and search engine ranking for keywords your audience searches are also strong indicators of performance and success.
